Here's something I don't quite understand.
How is it that demand is now a crime? Wal-Mart customers buy goods that they know are produced from, quite literally, the blood and lives of Chinese workers, and yet they are not arrested and charged with a crime whenever they go out consuming at Big Blue. So how is it that people who possess child porn are held to a double standard? Child porn ain't a good thing, but I'm not going to buy into any reactionary authoritarian thinking until I can see this double standard resolved. The excuse is the purchase, exchange, and possession of child porn hurts children. Well, so does the purchase, exchange, and possession of goods made by sweat-shops in Asia.

You're kidding right? If there was no market for kiddie porn there wouldn't be magazine/films/pics for sale. It's simple capitalism. You have to prosecute men on both sides of the picture to get anywhere.

Maybe Wal-Mart should be open to lawsuits on the behalf of its exploited laborers.

So should we prosecute Wal-Mart customers?

Wal-Mart's only doing what people want. Cheap goods. Screw Asians. They're not American.

I kind of understand where you're going, Gene....but, it's not the same thing. Children aren't paid nor do they give permission to be raped when they are 5 years old. I don't claim to know everything about world labor laws, but I'm assuming most Chinese are working of their own volition and are getting paid for it...meager though it may be. It might be criminal in some cases, but it's not comparable to a child being raped when she's 3, 4 or 5 while being filmed for the sexual pleasure of some disgusting pigs.

Are you sure people who shop Wal-Mart do so thinking, "Screw Asians, they're not American"? I would imagine Wal-Mart shoppers are just thinking, "Cheap goods".

Quote:
child porn truely disgust me. big money, big business...cos of that trade there have been little kids kidnapped in western countries as well and of course parents didnot let it go. cos of scream of those parents and civil establishments media has to say something to make people think that they care. if children were kidnapped as a working slaves then something similiar would happen. like parents would stand up, civil foundations would stand up, media would realise they are expected to say something and media would bring the problem to the surface to make people keep it shut. |
