I believe that shoplifting should be legalized in America. I can't help it that I'm hungry, I was born this way. To those of you who say shoplifting is sinful or unnatural, I can prove to you it isn't! See here: Shoplifting Seagull in Scotland. If an animal does it, then it must be natural and morally acceptable for us humans to do it also. Plus, look how cute that seagull is, how can anything that cute be wrong? Shoplifting should be legalized in America!

So you want to legalize stealing? Why dont we do away with the monetary system instead? O_O

No. Even if you're hungry, you don't have a right to steal. Get a job and go buy yourself some Top Ramen.

Me too. I figured out the coolest stuff to make with it when I was a student. Unfortunately, now that I'm a hard-working, degree-holding bachelor, I have to settle for prime rib.

As a college student I'm required to agree. Get some ramen and some bratwurst and you have a feast.
Also, I'm guessing this thread was made to be an analogy to homosexuality? There's one problem with that: being gay doesn't hurt anybody. As anti-gay as I am, comparing it to shoplifting is a bit silly. Unless people being gay effects you personally, I say just let them be. ![]()

Hm. More interesting than at first glance, this thread is.
Why do we think stealing from (for example) a huge corporation like Wal-Mart is wrong? If no one is physically injured why should anyone care? what if a poor person steals a box of Huggies from Wal-Mart because they don't have any money, should they go to jail?

I give the attempt at sarcasm a B.
Should shoplifting be legal? Shoplifting shouldn't even exist. We have the ability to supply the entire human population with food 12x over. We have the ability to give everyone in the world a solar, corn, or electric powered car. We have the ability to give everyone an ipod. We have the ability to give everyone candy. We have the ability to provide everyone internet access. We have the ability to ensure every person gets the bed, diamonds, toys, and clothing of their choice. All for free! But the monetary system doesn't allow it. I think of shoplifting as a double-edged sword. On one hand it shows what's wrong with the capitalist system, on the other hand companies compensate for the lost profits by screwing over workers and consumers.
