Even if, theoretically, you could pull the sperm back out of the egg and both would be whole and separate as before?

I don't believe that in the least bit. Lfe happens when it is conscious of it's own being. we have absolutely no idea, i think it's different at different stages depending on the person. Well you are an athiest so you don't believe in spirits and god and all that stuff, but from my view there is a time when life is breathed into the embryo and the spirit is bound to the vessel.

I don't agree on abortion, except in cases of rape, incest, and when the mother's life in at risk. I also think that refusing to have children is a Sin, it's breaking the first commandment God gave to Adam and Eve, to "multiply and replenish the earth." I believe having an abortion of convenience is a gross sin, it is the shedding of innocent blood, wither or not the "spirit" has been bound to the body or not.

I don't think that abortion should be barred or banned, especially for the reasons i listed.... but it should be a choice that you should be prepared to handle the concequences of.
