Anti-abortion activists are always telling us that life begins at the moment of conception. But what is the moment of conception?
Also, what does it mean for life to begin? Is the conceptus a person? Does it have a soul?

I voted
When the sperm has penetrated the egg. Not that it matters to me much. For me that is far from a human/concious and I don't believe in a soul either ![]()

It's the moment at which your mind conceives of a collection of cells as a person, or the moment at which the "concept" of personhood takes shape in thought and is projected ontologically onto an accumulation of biological matter.

God knows when the moment of conception occurs. Isn't that good enough for you, Bill?

When the sperm has penetrated the egg. (If that egg then results in human life)...as far as I am concerned.

Even if, theoretically, you could pull the sperm back out of the egg and both would be whole and separate as before?

By definition, conception is when a sperm has penetrated an egg.

I don't agree on abortion, except in cases of rape, incest, and when the mother's life in at risk. I also think that refusing to have children is a Sin, it's breaking the first commandment God gave to Adam and Eve, to "multiply and replenish the earth." I believe having an abortion of convenience is a gross sin, it is the shedding of innocent blood, wither or not the "spirit" has been bound to the body or not. I don't think that abortion should be barred or banned, especially for the reasons i listed.... but it should be a choice that you should be prepared to handle the concequences of.
