An officer's conduct is currently under review for being photoed with porn legend Ron Jeremy.
Trooper Photo With Porn Star Raises Questions - News Story - WCVB Boston What struck me about this and made me post it is that Ron Jeremy isn't doing anything illegal by being in the porn business. He can sleep with as many women as he wants for women (just as the women porn stars and sleep with men and each other for money) and it is perfectly legal as long as certain safety precautions are met and age restrictions are met. Ron Jeremy is doing nothing illegal by being a porn star. Likewise if the officer watches porn, pleasures himself to porn, decided to star in a porn or makes yearly donations to porn companies to insure their growth he is entitled to do that under the law. No laws are being broken. So what gives with the conduct investigation? I can't tell but I suspect it is a moral issue the brass has with him associating his badge with porn. I wanted to ask as a matter of debate if you feel the officer was out of line and if police departments should police what is moral and immoral of their officers as opposed to just legal and illegal? |

Institutions, organizations and employers tend to have behavioral expectations above and beyond the minimum requirements laid out by the law. I am truly not surprised that a Police Department would have their own expectations, although I am a little irked that they are so prudish.

Perhaps they asked him to wear his police uniform during the film.

The article said the photo was taken after the officer responded to the scene of a collision between a drunk driver and a tour bus. Assuming that the drunk driver ended up in police custody (since I sure hope he didn't just let him go on his way!), I can't see how the officer could have been supervising him while getting his photo taken, though I don't know if any other police responded as well. OTOH, if it was a matter of him checking the bus passengers for injuries and someone snapping a photo on his way out, I don't think it's that big a deal. IMO, if this is a matter of the MSP having a thing against porn, then I think they're out of line. If they have a thing against cops hanging out and socializing while there's work to be done, then I'm okay with their actions. |

Maybe they just want to make sure the officer didn't do anything cruel to a hedgehog
