Which is better? (The aim, the travel), or the Goal?
This can apply to any aspect of life; what and why do you believe which is better? I'll start off with an example. Many years ago, in my teens, there was a detective series on the radio. I enjoyed it, but not especially so - except for the theme tune, which I had forgotten. I know it sounds absurd, but for decades, I have wanted to remember how that theme tune went; it has been something niggling at the back of my mind for ages. By sheer coincidence, I et someone who gave me the name of one of the actors. Five minutes on Google, and I found the tune. Suddenly, the tune sounds banal; the arrival of that long journey was not half as enjoyable as the wanting to hear it again.........

unashamedly bumped............changed the title; maybe the old one put posters off.........or maybe my subjects are so damnably boring that no one wanted to post anyway.

Depends on the expectations of the destination....
Many people wait for riches on arrival to heaven....which is transcendental consciousness.....so finding enlightenment is a journey and destination....

It depends the journey and the goal. I mean the journey from my house to where I went on holiday in april(French Alps) was no where near as fun as the goal.
However somes things it is all about the journey, not the goal at all.

It depends. I enjoy planning for trips immensely....it's part of the fun. But, the trip is generally just as much fun as the planning so it's a wash in regard to your question.
Regarding love, I wished my entire life for a partner that I loved deeply. Even though I was married and had children with my first husband, I knew within a year of our wedding day I had made a mistake. I got pregnant during the first year and stayed in the relationship for over a decade even though we were very incompatible and miserable. We divorced finally after much heart wrenching and discussions about the kids. Fast forward years later to when I met Rick, my current husband. In this case I have to say the destination or goal was the best part of the journey. I feel soooo fortunate! |

In spiritual terms, you mean OP?
I guess we are all part of this learning simulation called "Life", so the journey and the goal are identical perhaps? |

I can tell you quite unabashedly that it is neither. The real sweetness comes after reaching the goal as everything before that is merely the window dressing of the soul (or whatever you wish to call it). Like riding a bicycle you have to get used to it in order to appreciate what you have found and learn to "work" with a larger view of reality.
When you are living in full awareness of your tiny place within reality there is no greater feeling. The neatest part contrary to many schools of thought is that the individual still exists pretty much as they were during the journey however at this point one radiates like a new star as you accept your role as a co-creator of reality. It is like "god" or whatever you need to call "it" formed the Lego blocks of reality and we are a special kind of Lego block that forms new things from the raw (Lego pieces)materials we find all around regardless of where we find ourselves. So the biggest reward is understanding that we ourselves are co-creators and if that isn't empowering enough for folks well... I don't know what to say. ![]()

I have to go with "the Travel". if I keep my expectations at a minimum I´m bound to learn something wether I reach my goal or not.

For me, it is the journey itself. When I am working on something I really enjoy, I feel a bit let down when it is completed. I have a bit of accomplishment, then I move on to the next task ( or next journey).
I don't think I could keep living if I suddenly learned everything in the world because I love learning new things. I am constantly changing my mind about things from what I have learned. It is an adventure I hope goes on until the end of my life and after the resurrection. |
