Alright, when I first read this I thought to myself “please don’t let it be more Christians objecting to homosexuals being in a public area” (which probably has some truth in it). But, then I read that (I have friends that live in San Diego and one that was actually in the Stadium at the time) Gay Pride Night coincides with kids promotional night and it got people riled up. And I agree that they were justified in their reactions. Now, it was more then likely coincidental, but do you think it’s right to continue on the same day?

The only reason I had a problem with it was because of the french kissing in front of children and commiting other lacivious acts (you can only imagine). Of course, this could just as well happen with heterosexuals but in numbers, it was difficult to ignore.

I kiss my husband in public all the time. We're in our forties, so we don't stand around necking on street corners, but we kiss hello and goodbye when meeting or parting.

After all, prejudice is something that has to be learned--we aren't born feeling threatened by gays, Jews, blacks, etc. I suspect the parents who object to the event will be far more traumatized by it than their children.

So I'm guessing you'd be ok with such things going on around kids?

The articles you posted don't mention any french kissing. And the people quoted objecting to the event don't mention it either. However, if that is taking place, then that is another issue. Whatever our personal objections to french kissing at a baseball game might be, they should be just as strong against heterosexuals doing it as homosexuals, i.m.o. (I'm sure you agree).

You missed the point. It was acts that I would object to. Same answer?

Well, the kids' promotional day happens every week, according to one of the articles. So, any of the gay couples who wanted to bring their kids to the game don't have to pick between free cap day and Pride day. Anyone who wanted to bring their kids not on Pride day can just pick a different week. As far as the PDAs, I don't see any reason kids shouldn't see gay couples doing what they see straight couples do every day. There really isn't a difference. |
