This is a question for real life, as well as fictional; for circumstance, as well as event; for destiny as well as happenstance.
Do you believe in the happy ending? Why or why not?

If by happy ending, you reference the end of a Disney movie - Aladdin becomes prince, marries Jasmine, befriends a magic carpet and a genie - that is, the main character achieves many happy things, then yes, the possibility does exist.
I am not going to hold my breath for my personal story to hold that many treasures, however.

Yet even in the movie Aladdin, how many people did not get a happy ending?
Happy endings always leave someone unhappy.

However, if there is a happy ending, it must be at the Johnson City Medical Center. I know this because I'm always reading in the obituaries that somebody went to be with the Lord at the Johnson City Medical Center.

According to the old adage, all true stories end in death. At that rate, I guess that there are no genuine happy endings.

I definitely believe in happy endings.....or at least happy outcomes.
The most poignant happy outcome for me is ending up with Rick, my husband.... We met when I was newly divorced and he was legally separated and living apart from his wife. We almost instantly connected in a very strong emotional bond which was unexpected and surprising for both of us because we sure weren't looking for it. He was about one month away from being divorced when he started feeling very torn about living apart from his kids permanently, especially because his new home was 2 hours away. After a lot of thought he decided to give his marriage another go. I encouraged him to try again as well even though it was heartbreaking to do so. We didn't see each other for a year. But, the odd thing was that we'd run into each other about every five or six weeks at the oddest times. I live in a city of 200,000 people and never run into anyone I know when I'm out and about. Plus, we lived on opposite sides of town. Twice we pulled up next to each other on the freeway out of the blue, once we were both at a Blockbuster at midnight, met at Shop-Ko once while shopping and several other chance meetings at monthly intervals. A friend of mine said that we were still so much on each other's minds that we were drawn together somehow...and I think she was right. Finally a little over a year after our last date he called me to say his marriage was over for good, it just wasn't going to work. We married about a year and a half later and my days with him have been the happiest of my life.

Homer: Well, we didn't get any money, but Mr. Burns got what he wanted. Marge, I'm confused. Is this a happy ending or a sad ending?
Marge: It's an ending, that's enough. |
