Spongebob is a sponge. I'm not sure how a sponge could be gay. He's a fry cook, not exactly a stereotypically gay profession. He does seem to be quite flamboyant, even for a cartoon character, but that's because he's a kid, not an adult character. As for his sexuality, I'd say it's just non existant. I've never seen him put the moves on anyone or even suggest anything remotely sexual. He's just a goofy, extremely expressive kid.

We have a SpongeBob SquarePants mouse pad here at work and would love to throw him out, but don't dare, because someone obviously loves the dude, in fact it's probably the main managers, who has hinted that he may like guys...

I have to look at him every day and it's annoying me...

I have to resist the urge to throw him out every day...but my defenses are weakening.

I think it's more of a gullable (characterized by his sponge head) nerdy square pants (clean) character who's really not all that interested in guys or gals..
