If a disease would kill somebody without medicine, then yeah, you sort of hit the nail on the head. I don't mind treating non-deadly things though. Also, I'm all for lessening any pain that somebody has to have on the way out.

Haven't recent studies shown that adult stem cells are just as good? I think we need to investigate that more.

I certainly hope you've never had strep throat, the flu, meningitis, or anything else that can lead to death if it goes untreated. Otherwise by your logic you should already be dead.

Adult stem cells aren't as good because they are more difficult to isolate and grow in the lab, and because they do not have the potential to develop into as many different types of cells as stem cells do.

The main disadvantage to embryonic stem cell research is the limited number of cell lines allowed for federal funding in the U.S. *sigh....*

That's how many conservative religious people reacted when the lightning rod was invented in the 19th century.

There are very serious, very complex, and (potentially) very dangerous ethical issues that we must confront as biotechnology advances; however, the fate of a single cell's soul is not, in my opinion, one of them.

Opposing the scientific progress that would help to alleviate ANY suffering is the same as opposing love. I don't get how ANYONE would applaud Jesus' miracles of healing and then oppose man learning how to do this. Read the "Good Samaritan" and get a clue about WHO your neighbor is.
