I sometimes read that the high divorce rate today is at least in part caused by the supposed fact that "divorce is easy". I wonder what people have in mind when they think divorce is easy? When has divorce, for most people, ever been an easy thing to do?

Given the right lawyer you don't even half to pay alot for it anymore. Keep in mind Sunstone, that some couples have been living the life of divorced parents for quite awhile before it gets decided and finalized.

I think it has more to do with how people are more willing to get then give... It’s also all about the instant gratification and or self satisfaction (not saying enjoying thing for yourself is wrong)… not a lot of people are willing to give any effort to making things work… something bothers you… and your off to the next thing to come along…

I am not saying getting a divorce is wrong... after all I do view a marriage as a contract... and if you have a legitimate reason for divorce then you have every right to go through with it... but just trying to answer why I believe there may be an influx in divorce...

I think that the thing… last resort… I am guessing… what we see as a last resort is changing over time…

Divorce, as a process, seems to be easy, as long as you have the money to go through with it.

Given how much of a pain it's been seperating all of our (me and my ex) stuff I can't imagine how much harder it would have been had we been married and had kids.
I'm hit kind of hard by whats happened to me yet when you're married you kind of think that it's going to last and put alot of hope and effort into it, thats the idea of marriage so no I don't imagine divorce is easy for anyone inc. family members involved.
