Ok, there have been a couple of abortion debates opened on this forum. I have just remembered something a teacher once got us to do! Here are some scenarios.
1. There is a preacher and wife who are very, very poor. They already have 14 kids. Now she finds out she is pregnant with her 15th. They are living in tremendous poverty. Considering their poverty and the excessive world population, would you consider recommending abortion? 2. The father is sick with sniffles, the mother has TB. They have 4 children. The first is blind, the second is dead. The third is deaf and the fourth has TB. The mother finds she is pregnant again. Given the extreme situation, would you recommend abortion? 3. A man raped a 13 year old black girl and she got pregnant. If you were her parents, would you consider recommending abortion? 4. A teenage girl is pregnant. She is not married. Her fiancee is not the father of the baby, and he is very upset. Would you recommend an abortion? Please answer just yes or no to each scenario! |

I would say no to all of those scenarios, but with one caveat:
I don't believe its my place to suggest any decision to a pregnant woman no matter the situation, but I would suggest that she talk to her doctor, OB/GYN, and possibly a counselor about her situation, and weigh all the alternatives to make her own informed decision.

However, I'm confused... I thought being deaf was generally not genetic, but due to conditions in the womb. Since almost all deaf children come from hearing parents and whatnot. So why is this relevant? |

Not my place. I would give my support no matter what she chose even if I disagree.

2. The next child could be perfect, a world leader. Wear a condom if you're worried. 3. Should the baby be punished for the evils of the rapist? I think not. 4. A few issues here, but again, why should the baby be punished? |

Er. You're aware that condoms, while they have a high 90s percentage of working when used perfectly, aren't 100% fail-proof, right?
