What are you responsible for? Have you ever given it serious thought?
Have you ever accepted blame for something that no other person would blame you for? Probably not... If a tornado hits your house are you responsible for it? Yes, you are. You could have lived in another place, a place where there are no tornado's but then you might not have the other things that you want so much. It's your choice, one you need to learn to live with. If there is an accident a mile ahead of you on the freeway, is it your fault? Yes, it is. You could have prevented the accident in so many ways but then you didn't know the accident was going to happen or the details of it so you think it's not your fault. If a young boy that lives next door is harmed by his parents, is it your fault? Absolutely. If you did not know the parents were abusive, you should have. From the child's point of view, you ignored him and left him at the mercy of abusive parents. The child doesn't care that you "didn't know". To him, you were simply another adult who chose not to know. You were able to help but you just weren't interested enough to make a difference in that child's life. Most people would not accept responsibility for the above things because they could only prevent the above if they had more specific information available ahead of time. But there are so many, many, other things that people are absolutely responsible for yet they refuse to accept it. Your life, whatever it is now, whatever it will be, is absolutely your responsibility. Your parents are not to blame for any unfortunate thing unless you are still a child and God is not to blame for any unfortunate thing unless your soul has truly been harmed. Accept blame for every single thing that is wrong with YOUR universe, YOUR planet, YOUR society, YOUR family, and YOURSELF. |

No thanks. I gave up my guilt with religion.

What's the child next door's name?
Oh, I'm sorry, that's right. It's not your fault. |

Well this is a bizarre thread? How can you accept responsibility for something when you werent even near what happened... the car accident for instance?

How does the premise not apply to them also?

Um... no, I disagree. You are not responsible for the tornado hitting your house by virtue of choosing where you put your house. You can only be responsible for the things you do or cause. You chose the location; you did not manipulate the weather to make a tornado appear. You can claim responsibility in this scenario for living in a tornado prone area. Quote:
Wha--? How can you prevent something that, by the time you become aware of it, has already happened? Quote:
