I have to say that at times it bothers me that people who know so little about current events and the world get the same number of votes that I do. If democracy requires an educated populace shouldn't the more educated and aware be able to participate more? Just throwing this out there.

That's actually kind of surprising, since there isn't a whole lot of news on the two shows on Comedy Central. Then again, most of the stories on the news are filler.

Democracy requires a populace. (And no, the United States is not a pure democracy. It's a constitutional republic and swayed a bit from the Jeffersonian democracy our founding fathers and documents envisioned.) The beauty of a democracy is that there is a rejection of paternalism and it emphasises the fact that an individual will inherently know what is best for them as they are themselves.

You're thinking more of an oligarchy with your "all animals are equal but some animals are more equal" strain of thought.

No offense, but your analysis is about as intelligent as the "news" that is reported on the Daily Show. Look at the numbers. With a margin of error of around 3 to 5% (which is pretty standard), there really isn't much difference between the O'Reilly Factor and the Daily Show. The numbers in that study say absolutely nothing of significant importance.
