Women make only 75.5 cents for every dollar that men earn, according to a new release by the U.S. Census Bureau. Women's pay is decreasing rather than increasing. More and More women are head of household. I had to raise a daughter in near poverty because of low pay for women. I went into sales and I arose out of the poverty level. How many other ways to women not have equal rights in the U.S.?

Wow! I hadn't done any reasearch on the topic lately, so I had assumed (like, I'm sure, most people) that the pay for women was now (if not equal) closer to that of men. How wretched to hear the truth!

The pay disparity is likely a function of the "glass ceiling". The executive positions are overwhelmingly held by men. Leadership in other fields other than corporate is also unequal (the military, politics, religion, sports, movies, etc.)
It's so sad that men are so insecure. -pah- |

Although I don't doubt there is some discrimination against women in the workplace, that certain groups are not as successful as other groups is not, in itself, indicative of discrimination.
For example, the NBA is primarily black. Does that mean that white people are being discriminated against? Not necessarily--there may be other factors that would explain this disproportionate representation. There is a disproportionate number of Jewish people in the media and entertainment. There are many more men in jobs that involve physical danger than women. Education and the media are filled with people who are far more liberal than the population at large, and, conversely, the business world is filled with people who are more conservative than the population at large. Again, these differences in ethnic/gender/political representation do not necessarily mean that discrimination is taking place--it could be the cause of several other factors.

The day we have a woman president in the USA and they don't say 'well if she is on the rag she's likely to just push the button and nuke us all.' I'll believe in true equality in the workplace.
![]() Sad to say I have heard that statement as to why a woman should not be president. Its also sad to say the last woman to run for president, Ms. Dole was not eaven supported by her own husband as he felt a man was better for the job. ![]() wa:do |
