Default Duke Lacrosse case
I'm pretty much ticked off that the woman who accused the Duke players of raping her is going to get next to no punishment for basically ruining their lives.

In my mind, if someone accuses someone of something falsely, they should be punished with whatever punishment the accused would have been dealt if they were found guilty.

Rape is a VERY serious crime, some would close to being equal to murder....to accuse someone of this and do it falsely is also a horrible crime. Any thoughts?

I agree , it makes it hard for women with real claims to be taken seriously. The DA from Durham who goaded her on is apparently going to get his. There's talk of investigation by the bar.

The DA won't get nearly what he should. This is a man who WILLFULLY prosecuted these kids for the sake of getting re-elected knowing that championing the poor and minorities would assure him his job.

I can think of very few things in life more disgusting.

I agree with the rest of you. False accusations are a serious thing. Plus it does make it more difficult for people who have legitimate cases to be taken seriously.

I somewhat followed this case. The whole thing smelled from the get go. I'm sure the BAR association is going to give to the DA...At the very least suspend his liscense?
