American Idol Gives Back (moral, POV, moral, organizations, charity)

It's always nice to see people actually doing something positive and selfless with their money (while they are by no means morally obligated to do so). I found this article this morning, about how American Idol plans on raising millions of dollars for the poor in both the US and in Africa.

For every vote cast, AMERICAN IDOL sponsors Coca-Cola and AT&T, along with a range of additional partners, will donate money to the charity.

The Ford Motor Company will also contribute to the cause in connection with its weekly music video, details of which will be announced soon. link

So, way to go Ford, Coca-Cola, and AT&T. And a big thank you to Fox for helping to organize this. Though, I think such charity will go largely unnoticed because Fox is involved. If it was ABC, NBC, or CBS, everyone would be praising them lol.

Bravo bravo!!! Its good their doing something to give back. i couldn't stand the show honestly, but now i have a new respect for them.

I know a lot of people don't like it (I do...), but it is wonderful to see something truly positive come out of the show, besides entertainment.

That is good news! I'm happy for those who find it entertaining, and I might just start calling in to vote because of this. RFX, you should do give us non-watching persons the name of who you'd like to be voted in so that we can help out and vote for someone you like!

In that case, vote for this guy! Blake Lewis. He's on American Idol, but he does reggae, beat-box, lots of alternative stuff, and he even makes Pop sound interesting. Last week he did 311 and none of the judges knew who 311 was, and Blake looked shocked. Who doesn't know 311? They are my favorite band.

Did they say if there's a percentage or dollar amount donated for each vote? Just curious.

Maybe they could have just spent all the money that went into the show on charity instead! At least then our ears would be spared the torment of yet another crap idol who can't sing or perform.
What ever happened to real bands and real music, maybe we are just to easy to please nowadays!
And another thought, couldn't Mr Cowell have put his hand in his pocket for charity?
