Well, do you think we should?
Think of the Billions..................(more like the zillions) that are spent each and every year on space exploration.......and, this sort of research:- http://euronews.net/index.php?page=i...e=409167&lng=1 news1 March 2007 ![]() 01/03 13:45 CET Science Major experiment into origins of universe gets underway When science fiction meets reality - that is the secret a group of researchers near Geneva are trying to unlock. In an experiment scientists believe will have a major impact on our understanding of the universe, a huge magnet weighing close to two thousand tonnes has been lowered 100 metres below ground. "It is difficult to predict 50 years from now what impact these discoveries will have," says researcher Tejinder Virdee from the CERN, the world's leading centre for research into the origins of matter. "Clearly they will have a major impact on our understanding of how nature works. And it will have an impact elsewhere, no doubt, just as the discoveries of Einstein and Maxwell and Newton and Galileo had on our scientific culture if you wish." The 15-year experiment involves smashing particles together at the speed of light - recreating conditions following the Big Bang which is believed to have brought the universe into existence. It is thought it could reveal the existence of dimensions until now relegated to the world of science fiction such as multiple universes and parallel worlds. ![]() Do you think we should "set our house in order" before playing with other worlds? If not, please get an "Excuse me", in triplicate, signed by Sunstone and Mrs Latex, to the effect that you wish to be excused on the grounds of being blind to the needs of the poor and starving right here, on our planet........... ![]() What say you?

No. We are meant to be explorers. Its a wonderful part of who we are and it should be a priority.

Instead of giving up space exploration, we could give up a number of non-essential programs that don't work, and do nothing to benefit the populous or the government, and waste billions of dollars that could be going to feeding the hungry, and providing people with better education.

Why don't we just stop supporting artists to feed the hungry. The amount the music, book and art industry draw in I'm sure makes space funding look like child's play.
And after all, we can make our own gosh darn "art".

And if people think feeding the world is so easy, I suggest you just look back two decades in recent history. It ain't. It's not because of funding. It's often because of cultural clashes and economic oppurtunism run amok.

There are plenty of areas of excess that can be clipped to feed the hungry. I don't see scientific exploration as an area that should be cut.
