If your child met a sexual predator on that site?

Nope. Should've been watching their children. Didn't the parents ask their daugters where they were going? Who they'd be with? Did the parents warn the teens about the potential of these types of people and not to give your personal info to people you don't know? If they did none of these things then they are at fault for the misfortune that befell their daughters. Myspace is a web-based company that can't babysit everybody that logs on. They can try to place certain security measures but nothing takes the place of good old home-training.

Absolutley not.
If this parent cannot watch or is too lazy too watch what their child is doing, they have no right suing a community-type website. Unless myspace personallly came and violated their daughter/son I don't see a single reason why they should. |

I don't think they should sue Myspace. It would be the near equivalent of letting their child go to the mall unsupervised and then suing the mall because the child met a predator there who assaulted her elsewhere. The protective measures they are complaining about will only stop the predators who have already been caught and who are actually complying with the restrictions on them. While Myspace should certainly make a good effort to weed out these people, it is impossible for them to keep all predators off the network. Because there will always been predators on the net, parents must teach their children how to use it responsibly and safely and keep as much watch over their internet activities as they should in other social situations.

Definately not. Myspace has done more than what's required to keep its users safe.
It's up to the parents and the teens.

Of course I would. Parents have the #1 responsibility, but we can sue others when they harm others.

I wouldn't either. It wouldn't be MySpace's fault that my kids and I were irresponsible, and probably stupid.
