I was watching the a documentary about Pin-Up Queen Bettie Page and it hints that in her youth she was sexually abused by her father and goes on to explain that this is quite common among women who seek a sexual career whether it be photography, stripper or a profession in pornographic motion pictures. Is this stated fact? And if not, is there some sort of correlation between this? Wouldn’t a woman who was sexually abused avoid sexual careers?

I think they have a warped sense of love. If someone is having sex with me this tells me that I'm feeling "love". I doubt that all porn queens were abused sexually, but I'll bet a good number were.

I acutally am studing that right now. I have a book called Deviant Behavior by Alex Thio. (the 8th edition) Now I dont' suggest buying it because its expensive but take the time to look into his stuff either at the library or see what you can find online. It covers a buncha stuff.

Most women that are in the industry get into it because they need the money to support a family or to pay for schooling. Most aren't any different mentally than 'normal' people. In fact, the majority of prostitutes are single moms before they become prostitutes. They dont' do this stuff because they are sexually abused unless you believe in Freudian logic which I don't.

Ok, I found the place in the book that tells of the myths of prostitution. This may be long winded but its very important to me.

There are five myths about prostitution. the first four are VERY interesting but don't pertain. If you want I can repost them later but heres the one you want.

Myth 5: Most prostitues have been sexually abused as children. Indeed, as shown by many studies, most of the streetwalkers who stat prostituting at a young age or prostitutes ho have often been arrested by police or helped by social agencies have been victims of child abuse. But, unlike these prostitutes, most sex workers do not have a history of child abuse (Perkins, 1991).

The study he mentions is :

I would draw a distinction between photography and the other fields. If you mean specifically porn/glamour photography? Sure...I'm sure most of those girls were sexually abused in someway. In my experience, all strippers are psychopaths. You can quote me on that one.

I tend to agree with this. Anyone listen to "Loveline"? A lot of girls seem stuck in this downward spiral of low self-esteem, dependence, and a desire to relive and "change" their broken pasts. This is called "baggage". However, that's not to say that all girls who are assaulted follow such paths...just that most who get into the sex industry have been seriously broken somehow.

SURE!! Lol, I don't mind at all. I'll just paraphrase those because if i typed all of them someone would get upset! Lol

Myth 1: Prostitutes typically are nymphomaniacs, having insatiable desire for sex
False: before going into the sex business, most prostitutes did not have more sex partners than average women

Myth 2: The oppsite of the first- that prositutes are rigid when it comes to sex
False: When they ahve sex with thier husbands or boyfriends, prostitutes as a goup are more responsive than other women--more able to achieve climax.

Myth 3 has to parts: They treat their clients natsy and are hard harted or that they are romanticized as sweet and warmhearted.
False: the average prostitute's attitude toward her clients is quite similar to that of anyone who provides a service to a divers clientele. Some clients she likes, a few others she dislikes, toward most of them she simple feel neutral.

Mtyh 4: Most prostitutes are drug addicts or have turned to prostitution to support their drug habit.
False: It is true that there is a percentage of prostitutes who are drug addicts before or after entering the sex business that is higher than the average womans addictino rates but the majority are just in it for the money to raise families or go to school.

Sorry if there are typos, I was looking at the book most of the time i typed this. Yeah, there is so much research done on this its amazing. I love talking about it. there is so much in this book included cybersex, nude dancing, and pornography. he dispells myths about all of them.
