In a socialist society you don't own yourself. Everyone has a 'share' in you. So, let's use the US population as an example. You would own 1/300,000,000th of your self and I would own 1/300,000,000 of yourself and so on.

In answer, I favour Libertarian Socialism over any other political system. If you're not familiar with the structured Anarchic system, you can find out more about it here courtesy of the Wiki. It is somewhat Utopian and so may appear to be unrealisitc to some, but I believe one should aim high in these matters and aspire to greatness. It's never been tried on a grand scale before with a united nation and we all know the main failing of Capitalism of any sort is in its dominant Corporatism, that which it inevitably mutates into in every circumstance and country. I for one am not content to be ruled from afar by the interests of a few suits forever. Are you?

Plus, it's an anti-Authoritarian ideology that has the potential to turn all the basic premises of communal economic theory into facts.

how would our freedoms be restricted? freedom is the ability to chooce, would we not have a choice of profession? lovers? what choices can we make under capitalist economic system that we can't under a socialist one?

No, economic communities arise spontaneously in Capitalism, that's the only difference. These then create dependency whilst simultaneously becoming dependent upon certain criteria and economic factors which must be met, resluting in a pro-authoritarian scenario where the masses dictate vicariously through the elect who in turn tell them, the masses, what they want them to want via prompts such as the media. This is slavery, Capitalistic slavery.

Exactly. We would have no freedom of choice regarding economics. We could not choose to buy (because, first of all, there would be no money) somethig from Company A and not from Company B. We would have to get everything from the collective's factory or the collective's software commune or whatever.

If the people wanted to ban the Roman Catholic Church, they could if the majority of people supported it. That goes for everything else. Who wants to be ruled by the mob?

You must be thinking about socialism. The ultimate mob rule.

Capitalism is the polar oppossite of slavery. You have freedom of choice - under socialism you do not. There is no slavery in capitalism. Capitalism means a system of contractual agreements. This is the democracy of the free market - choice.

Socialism is a system of the masses exercising their will, ad-hoc, over anyone or thing they want. In a socialist society you are a slave to the collective. You are forced to be part of the collective, work for the collective, live with the collective. In capitalism you can pick and choose where you want to work, who you want to work for, or, if you want, to employ people.
