John Edwards is a phony. Has anyone here actually seen his show? Sometimes I watch it just for laughs....
Edwards: "Okay, I'm getting a sister here...has anyone lost a sister? A sister or mother...some kind of girl...it could be a step sister or step mother, or mother in law, or sister in law (the spirits can't tell the difference). Or a grandmother...anyone? Come on, people! I'm getting some kind of loss having to do with a female in this general section of 40 people..." Audience member: "Well, my grandmother lost a cat..." Edwards: "Okay was it a dark cat?" Audience member: "Well, it had stripes.." Edwards: "Were the stripes dark" Audience member: "Why yes, they were!" Edwards: "Yup that's the one, that's what the spirits were telling me."

If you mean physically, then no. I believe that that man is a complete fake, but, nonetheless, I believe it is possible to contact those in the Otherworld. Not many have the ability, or wherewithal, to do so.
