Yes, it's definately a stereotype. Yes, it sounds a bit off in today's less conservative times. But could it be true?
You've seen it said in movies, on the radio, in talkshows, and on the t.v. You've heard it from certain types of people from time to time. Can a straight male and a straight female be "friends?" Especially when they're both single? Is it possible to have this relationship without it inevitable leading to something more? Has civilization tamed the innate and primal urge between two beings of opposite sex? Or could it mean one or perhaps both of the parties have homosexual desires/personality/tendencies within them, either consciously or subconsciously?

Well, I have several female friends I'm just friends with, and I have no homosexual tendencies I'm aware of apart from an inexplicable attraction to the utter masculine manliness of James Dobson, Jerry Falwell, and Pat Robertson.
When I was much younger and more hormone driven, I found it more difficult to be just friends with a woman, and so I have a tendency to think that those people who find it difficult to be just friends with someone of the other sex are probably somewhat immature and will grow out of it.

I have girls that are just friends, but I'm not attracted to them physically at all. They have great minds. There isn't any grey in my book for being sexually attracted to someone. If I want her/him I don't hold my desire down. I live in the now. You could call me immature. I'd prefer hedonistic.

I have several females that are just friends. A couple of them are even drinking buddies.
