What's the difference between something being normal and something being common?

Is it possible to take a step back from heterosexuality and see it for just how weird it really is?

For a start, there is no such thing as 'Normal'.

Speak to any doctor, psychiatrist........anyone related in any way with the medical profession and 'normal' is a word they avoid like the plague.

I think 'Heterosexuality is common' is a far better description.

Strangely enough, I understand what you are saying, and for me, it was 'wierd' for ages. I guess to a slight extent, it still is wierd to me. But it's common, and it's what makes the world go around. Freud was at least right in that respect. Sex is at the root of every action we take, throughout our lives; sex is the prime motivator of the whole of humanity.

I highly doubt that Michel. When I got to Church to worship on Sunday, I am neither thinking of sex or anything related to that.

When I am working on my schoolwork, that is neither related to sex either.

Obviously defining normal is very difficult. But, way I see it, it's definitely not abnormal. It's tried and tested and we've found it continues the species. That can't be abnormal, can it?

I agree with everyone else. Show me anyone who can actually be classified completely "normal" and I will jump off the highest cliff in Europe.

I think that 'normal' is such because it serves a recognised purpose. Common is just something a lot of people like to do, but out of tastes, maybe not necessarily for a distinct purpose.

So, hetereosexuality is normal because, as I said, it serves the purpose of procreation.

I see heterosexuality as normal...

I also see homosexuality as normal. (this includes all of the LGBT community)

Both are standards of sexual preference. I dont see why either is abnormal. I guess what I mean is, there is no such thing as "normal" so everything can be in the norm.
