Lol I totally forgot about my gay pride bracelet till Bastet mentioned hers. As I say... I'm all for the movement... I just wish it had less to do with pride

I'd find indifference to be more to my liking, but it doesn't really do much to get money to organizations like PGLO and their sort. Gays are still being lynched and shot to death in some countries, and people don't come to spend their money at Pride parades to see dour-faced folk marching rank and file. They come to see the drag queens and the bodypaint. It sells. It's fun. Unfortunately, some people don't seem to understand that the organizers are working more to draw crowds and build community than to make a statement.

Is it necessary, not sure how to answer that. When I think of gay pride parades I think of this:
![]() Which I find unappealing. Now those types of parades may be few and far between, I don't know. I just don't think those types of parades are necessary.

What's wrong with that? They look like they're having a great time! If you don't like it, no one is forcing you to go to the events or Google pictures of them.
I love going to shows at the local venue when there's a lot of gay/cross-dressers there. It's always such a blast. And not to mention, it's those people have been the only ones there who have consistantly helped and not treated me like a freak because I walk with a limp and a cane. It's always nice to hear a "honey, you need some help?" when I'm struggling to get up from sitting and resting on the floor while everyone else are busy trying to avert their eyes from the people who are dressed weird and the gimp. Mutual respect and tolerance is a big thing for me. I also do not understand the view that people who go against the norm should shut up, shuffle along quietly, and quietly ask for rights while being used as a doormat. As a disabled biracial feminist queer, I refuse to assimilate, roll over, and beg for scraps from the master's table. These are my rights and I'm not going to sit around and wait for them to come to me and I'm going to have fun and look fabulous while doing so. Quote:
