If you were king and could pass only one law - what would it be?
For me, I would enact the law that all leaders in positions of importance (political, religious, commercial) must use logic and rational thought in any (and every) speech - any use of rhetoric would be punishable by instant removal from that position. For example, if a leader wanted to espouse a given religious belief, that would be fine, but he would have to preface the statement with the disclaimer that "the following statement is based on revealed faith..." This would allow him to say anything he wanted - but it would forewarn any and all listeners that the following statements might not include logical fallacies, but the listener might not necessarily accept the premises that the arguments are based on. It would be a hectic first week or two (have to locate all the new leaders), but then things would settle down. After a very short time, we would actually be making progress in things of importance. Let the games begin.... TVOR

An interesting thought, TVOR! Hmm... My one law as king/ queen... People should be more kind to one another. I don't think that's a law so much as a general wish, though.

interesting perspective, instead of attacking our government, lets see how we would do in thier position.
personally my law would be about freedom of anything, except all negative immoral deeds. that is the hard part to define, that fuzzay line between what is right and wrong. thats why for a second law, i will create a justice system that takes care of these issues, from minor to major, case by case. of course, my country would be small, and anyone who was violent will be expelled from it. free religion, free choice, free speech. voilence and killing doesnt benefit anyone.

From what I have read of your posts, I thought you were a male (and probably in your mid to late 20's). I read a post by someone on one of the other threads that indicated that the other person thought of you as female. I didn't want to correct them until (and unless) my impression was correct.
Thanks, TVOR

I'd pass a law for freedom of speech. Just about every other right seems to be guarded by that one.
