Default The Right To Bear Arms- Does it extend to swords?

Well, having just started my sword collection a few weeks ago (though my interest has been around for years), I came to think of something: should the right to bear arms also mean one can carry a sword? Why or why not?

If people are allowed to carry guns in public, then why shouldn't they be allowed to carry a sheathed sword? I was reading the gun laws for my state, Texas, http://tsra.com/index.php?p=page&id=110, and I find it shocking that people can bring guns, even handguns, to so many places. Now, I'm not getting into different situations, but I think we can all agree a gun is potentially more dangerous than a sword.

I wouldn't mind carrying a sword around. Let's see how many times someone tries to mug me!

As far as I know you can carry any type of knife, excluding automatic knives, of any length, and it is perfectly legal, as long as it is not concealed. Gimme a minute and I'll try to dig up some actual legislature.

From Texas,

Quote:
(6) "Illegal knife" means a:
(A) knife with a blade over five and one-half inches;
(B) hand instrument designed to cut or stab another by
being thrown;
(C) dagger, including but not limited to a dirk, stiletto,
and poniard;
(D) sword; or
(E) spear.
I have swords over a foot long.

Found something interesting though. A law....
Quote:
- "Defendant's contention that he took knife to school to
fight demons that plagued him did not defeat requisite
state of mind for conviction..."
