The difference is that Life of Brian is a parody and so it is not taken as seriously as Da Vinci Code. But Da Vinci Code is a work of FICTION. So people should lay off it anyway. FICTION MEANS ITS NOT TRUE!!

I'm sorry I don't have the whole article, but since I'm not a subscriber to their archives service, I can't get the whole thing.

It could be argued that the author created a 'buzz' for his book by perpetuating a rumor that this book was somehow based on fact. Considering that one of the main pieces of the plot, the Priory of Sion, was proved to be a complete hoax, anyone who does even the most cursory investigation can conclude that 'The Da Vinci Code' is entirely fictional. I'm not saying he necessarily committed fraud, but someone once said there's no such thing as bad publicity.

OTOH, 'The Life of Brian" was a parody from the word GO, and lest anyone forget that, just remember who did that one....Monty Python.

Given their totally different concepts, there's really no basis for comparing the 2.
