I have friends moving out of the state of Virginia because of Virginia's very anti-gay marriage amendment. I wonder if/when people will feel forced to flee the United States over this issue.

I wonder when the poor sods will realize how badly they've been had all this time. They're so worried about same-sex marriage they haven't noticed their financial well-being and freedoms are being eroded away.

The anti-religious would much rather rid itself of "religious zealots" that get in the way of abortion, legalization of prostitution, to name a few. Much easier to tell them "keep God out of the voting booth".

During my parents youth the issue being fought was black/white marriages. My generation made it right. My generation fights gay marriages. My children's will make it right. I wish it was sooner than later,but at least it will happen. It will happen!

When the ONLY reason you have to make a law is based on a religion, then it doesn't deserve to be a law. Including prostitution. But I suppose that's an issue for a different thread.

To me, Victor, it is more a question of rights and not having to follow anothers' religion placed in law. When a religious freedom of expression is placed into law, it diminishes my right to religious expression. It is the religious fist that is throw that bruises my nose.

It is also a question of whose authority is to run the country. Agents of God should have as much voting power as a British or Russian citizen has in America. An American "agent of God" has less allegiance to this country than to God.

There have been too many consessions in placing "gates" in the wall of separation and it's gone to the head of so many religious that they confuse privilege with rights.

So many arguments in opposition to the gay community, prostitution, a right of reproduction fail to mount an adequate civil argument against those and those like issues. The current campaign for one man, one woman is being stoked in the churches with inuendo, ridicule, distorsions of fact, and quotes out of contect. It is the winks in the pews, the puplit, and the parish hall that is a major part of their campaign. Psuedo-science palys it's role as well. That is enough for non-critical thinking in both civil and religious from the church members.

The issue is not being fought from a biblical perspective because, quite frankly, the campaign can not be won with public discussion of biblical text.

So if the bible is not sufficient in evangelical eyes, what does that say about the cause.There is more honesty from RF religious members than in the religious political arena.

Why this new emphasis from me? Because I am aware exactly how they will conduct their campaign.

And there was me thinking that it was a marriage announcement codified in the constitution to win over all the X-file fans....
