Aka "the ones the newspapers use."
As a system, there's absolutely nothing wrong with it, and was even accurate... in 1900 BC. Aries isn't even in the sky during the spring equinox anymore! It just confuses me.And furthermore, when people are told that this system is outdated, why do they insist on still using it? Aauugh, sorry, this is one of my huge pet peeves. Maybe one of you astrology peeps could shed some light on this for me. |

I don't know about the 'technicalities' of it. (Star charts, etc.)
The descriptions of the tropical zodiac... I wonder if people keep using it, even after it's proven wrong, because they think it explains certain aspects of their own behavior. At least that's why it appeals to me, I suppose.

I can understand that... it's just that the stars they say are in the sky aren't even visible during the times of year they say they're visible! It just drives me batty... how could I have been born under Gemini when Taurus was in the sky, not Gemini?
Because of the drifting of the planet, the stars we see at certain times of the year have drifted, too. The last time Aries was visible during the spring solstice (as the tropical zodiac still lists it) was 1900 BC. As of 1977, it's Pisces that's in the sky then. I've been told in the past to just hush up and go on to Vedic astrology, since it actually corresponds to what stars are in the sky when, but dagnabit, this drives me batty! ![]() |

Hehee, I can understand that!
I like the Chinese zodiac, if nothing else because I get to be a Goat, but I think I'll have to look into the Vedic system.

This is a subject that holds great interest for me. Could any one put up a sight where I can learn more about the zodiac (The occult in general).
Edit: I really hope occult is the right word to use. If it is not I apologize

I had never heard of 'tropical zodiac' until today; I have always used siderial Astrology (as I now know it to be called ); I didn't know that people followed a different 'kind'.
I can't imagine the difference it would make, as Astrology relies so much on angles, distances; one degree mistake can make a world of difference.
