Christianity Is More Eastern !
Christianity, as many think is not a western religion Authors of the sixty four out sixty six books in the Holy Bible were Asians or the middle eastern in origin Christian church was born in Jerusalem, in Asia. India is one of the few countries where Christianity reached in the first century itself, before the gospel spread into many parts of Europe .All the disciples of Jesus were middle eastern. Jesus had given command to the disciples’” "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark; 16:15 and “ make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” ,Mathew ; 28:19, one of own His disciples went to India and preached the gospel there. Thus before Christianity reached many parts of Europe and the world, it established roots in India. The last book in the Bible, The Book of Revelation was written to the Seven Churches in Asia. So Christianity is more eastern in nature. Jesus did not come to make a religion .He was sent to build the church and to preach the Kingdom of God to all. Jesus came as the Savior of the world, of the entire mankind. Jesus Christ is the Salvation God prepared before the face of all peoples He is Lord of all. Paul’s message was universal. "Therefore, having overlooked the times of ignorance, God now commands all people everywhere to repent, because He has set a day on which He is going to judge the world in righteousness by the Man He has appointed. He has provided proof of this to everyone by raising Him from the dead." Acts;17;30.31 So Christianity is not eastern or western .Jesus came with the salvation plan for the whole world. The Holy Bible says, ”For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him should not should not perish but have everlasting life.” John;3:16 http://www.gilead.ws |

I, personally, think Christianity was based off eastern principals... I know the Gnostic Christians ideas were.

I think it's described as a western religion more for historical reasons than religious ones, since that's where it became prominent first.

Further, I believe there were many Greek and Roman influences, which are decidedly Western.

Western Christianity -- Roman Catholicism, Protestantism, and variations on the two -- is very Western. Eastern Christianity -- Eastern Orthodoxy, Oriental Orthodoxy, the Church of the East -- is closer to the Eastern roots of Christianity. In terms of dogma, Eastern and Oriental Orthodoxy are close to Roman Catholicism and traditional Protestantism in many ways, but in terms of spirituality I think they're more akin to some forms of Taoism and Buddhism.
Western Christianity is heavily cataphatic; Eastern Christianity, apophatic. It makes a huge difference.

This doesn't surprise those of us who adhere to the more eastern variety (though, being a western man, I do have very strong western tendencies, and this is part of my heritage).
