Hey, Homosexuals: What's the Big Deal??? (minority, homosexuality, hell, America)

I didn't think there were enough "gay marriage" threads out there, so I thought I'd start my own. The angle of this thread is a little different, however, and I'll be watching closely to make sure both sides don't stray to far from the topic.

Statement: When considering the advances of the gay agenda, it seems clear to me (a conservative Christian/LDS thingamabob) that gay marriage is inevitable.

Its a bit like the difference between the removal of segregation and the actual acceptance of such an idea by the vast majority of people. Racist hate crimes are still commited in America 40 years after the legislation was pushed through. Homosexual hate crimes will stll happen in 40 years even if equal rights were given today.

Besides inevitable where? It is not good enough for me that the minority of the world (aka the West) will embrace homosexuality as an equal way of life when the majority represses and makes thousands of homosexuals suffer. I can't close my eyes to that just because I have it better off than they do.

Furthermore I view intolerance without a rational reasoned basis to be abhorent to my worldview. It is wholly mutally exclusive with a civilised peaceful world and therefore it must be fought wherever it manifests. It is not good enough that people are forced by law to tolerate any minority. People have to truly believe this and be shown that there is no rational reason for their non-acceptance.

I don't (unless someone starts being anti, then I get upset).

I'll answer a third question; the title of the thread.

What's the big deal?

There shouldn't be one.There isn't one, in my mind. If people do make an issue of it, I'll do whatever I can to help Gays get equality. Every form of equality is a big deal (when someone is denied it)

Yes I do believe it is inevitable.

I get fired up about it because we're still not there yet and people and families are being hurt NOW that really need the legal protections.

Yeah, I really hope and think marriage for same-sex partners is inevitable. I get "fired up" over the topic becasue there is no reason to be currently denied the right to marry and if a right is being denied to me for no good reason that's being given to others that they take for granted, I'm going to get a little "fired up."

I do feel the legalization of gay marriage is inevitable. And it doesn't fire me up...
