Hitting a woman

Is there ever a time when it's ok to hit a woman? Myself, I say no. I've heard some say if a woman hits you 1st, she's entered into a man's world. I disagree. I know how to walk away. Your thoughts?

I was about to type out a long response, but it basically would have said the above.

Here's another scenario where I'd consider hitting a woman to be ok:

If a woman is hysterical and in such a state that she is a danger to herself or others, then I think a slap across the face is appropriate if nothing else works. We had this girl (about 16) in the store once, she was having an asthma attack. Her mother asked us to call an ambulance, which we did, but in the meantime the girl was panicking about not being able to breathe properly, and would not even try to use her inhaler as a possible means of relief (however slight that might have been). I sat with the girl, trying to convince her to at least try, but she flat out refused. Meanwhile the mother is wringing her hands and screaming that her daughter's lips were turning blue...I was considering giving the girl a slap (Blind Freddy could see that her panic attack was making the asthma worse), and then possibly the mother too, when thankfully the ambos showed up and carted her off. I remember her mother telling me another (earlier) time they were in, that the daughter regularly refused to use any of her asthma medication. That same girl died last year, not surprisingly from an asthma attack. Perhaps if one of her mates she was with when it happened had given her a good slap, she might still be around.

wow, this is ironic...

My younger brothers and I have always played rough. They're bigger than me now, and i cant fight back. Today i pushed warren, and he pinned me to the ground and grabbed my neck. He knows that my neck is the most sensitive part of me, and it freaks me out when people touch it, much less grab at it. Out of instinct i slapped him. He grabbed harder and scared me, so i cried.... i just finished crying....

i dont think guys should hit girls...

I agree. Now as far as a woman hitting another woman, I guess there might be circumstances, as Bastet stated, but can't see a case were a man should ever hit a woman.

Not by hitting another woman, no. I feel I coud defend my wife without hitting another woman. Explain an instance were I would need to.

Let's see...some psycho woman is attacking Rebecca with a knife. You wouldn't defend her? Even if you hit the attacker with a lump of wood that's nearby, and not your fist, you're still hitting her, still harming her physically.

I'm not saying that men should just hit women cause they feel like it, cause they're ****** off or whatever, but there are circumstances - extreme as they may be, such as the examples I've given - where sometimes it's the only option.

Nope. Still wouldn't. Remember, I'm a pretty big guy. I'd try and tackle her. Pin her down. This might sound wierd, but if another woman had a gun, and I had a gun, I might shoot her, but would not hit her.
