Thanks for the help Druidus (I thought it was longer than that), but I'm afraid I have a negative reaction to it. I'd be one of the religious fundamentalists
.In the first paragraph, when it deals with stem-cell research, it is a scarecrow. How many educated opponents of the use of aborted fetus's stem cells really don't know that all cells contain all the necessary DNA to become a viable host, and then, there are problems with cloning's viability yet; IIRC, previous clones have been less than perfect. I actually expected something like this. It also overlooks that the argument that a fetus is a human being is based on personhood as well. When we say that "It has the potential to become a human being," it has teeth because it is a human being in development. Technically, sperm cells can become a human being, but they aren't yet a human being in development. It also assumes positive results for the euthenasia experiments in the Netherlands. It's too early to see the societal changes for those experiments. Things like that take time to bleed into the human consciousness, and the grounds upon which it is acceptable to terminate a human life may change from what we could consider acceptable. Take his conception of "personhood," for instance. It differs from what other people would define as person. Since I, and others like me, view the fetus as a person, then are they not enough of a person? What happens if, rather than taking his route, people begin to determine what persons are sufficiently persons to qualify? I find this prediction on exactly what will happen forty years down the road a little arrogant. It's short, and insufficient. He needs to develop his ideas more, assume less, and deal more adequately with his opposition. Until he does, I don't think it is a strong argument.

Well, it's Abrahamic, but I've had bad experiences in the past where they didn't want Islam included in Judeo-Christian... >.> (Not here, though). I'll just go by that, anyway.
