Wasn't sure really where to put this, so I put it here. I'm sure y'all have talked about this before, but I didn't know where to find it.

Question for y'all. Does anyone here actually believe that in reading Harry Potter that you are involivng yourself with evil spirits, withcraft, etc.?

I don't, but I know many who do(grandmother included). What is all your opinons on that?

Examine your collections of books, music and movies and throw out the ones that bring a bad spirit into the home. I suffered from severe depression until I rid my life of certain music and books. I am still tempted by these things, but will never allow any bad music, books or or movies to enter into my home. Just having them in your home will mess you up, big time, even if you don't look at the books or listen to the music or watch the movies. Get rid of them and watch the spirit change in your life and in your mind. You will have a peace of mind. Your mind will clear up and it will be easier to think. The hole in your heart will fill in with God's love.

It's a book. A book has no power but what you invest it with. If you think a chunk of wood pulp with some ink on it is manifest evil and lurking in the corner, then in your fevered mind it probably is. Of course you will feel better when you get rid of it. That doesn't mean there was ever actually anything wrong with the book.
We have most of the Harry Potter books, all of the movies except the latest one, Resident Evil 1 & 2 on DVD, a goodly smattering of vampire DVD's and books, and the soundtrack to Queen of the Damned. Guess what? None of us are depressed!!! Depression is the result of a chemical imbalance...unless you're going to liquify your DVD collection and inject it into your head, that isn't gonna do it!

I have a peace of mind and a calm that comes from getting rid of these things from my home. My soul is at peace.

Depression is the result of three things: Fear, a loss of hope, and hate. A poor diet also contributes to depression. If their are chemical imbalances in the brain, a diet rich in whole grains, will bring those chemicals back into balance. Whole grains are rich in B vitamins which are needed for mental well being. I do not suffer from any chemical imbalances or disorders. My father is a social worker/marriage counselor. I know all about depression. My mother and Grandmother suffer severe depression and are both heavily medicated. They have been for years. My grandmother spends 900 dollars a month on medications. She only gets worse.

Give me a break. It is only a movie. It is not real. Severe depression? Excuse me, but I doubt that you even know that that is. Try going thru what Evenstar went through. Or what Michel goes through everyday. You haven't a clue. Next you'll be saying Dumbo is evil.

Moved this, as it seems to be evolving into a debate.

As for Harry Potter 'promoting witchcraft'... what the spork do you think Sleeping Beauty does? It has faeries and magic, guess we'd better get rid of it... and most Disney movies at that. Oh, better not let kids watch Cartoon Network or Disney, talking animals is just one step away from magic...

I do know what severe depression is, because I have experienced it. It is curable, and is not a permanent condition, unless you make it so. Give God a chance.
