Because you can't be sure if a person convicted has always commited the crime.

I'm stuck between counselling/parenting classes with jail, and without jail, depending on what the parent actually did. I hate putting a reason behind the crime, but it seems that some parents are convicted because they left their kid home alone a few hours while they worked their third job to feed the kid, and some parents are convicted because they hit their kid out of boredom. I'm not very strong on this opinion though, I'd like to hear some others.

Sterilization should never be an option in my eyes.

abuse, meaning that they have done it more than once? Well they should be on trial and possibly have their kids taken away from them.

I voted base on the fact that the person is caught before massive amount of suffering is caused to the child, or children. The guy who recently got caught with journals with the names of 1000's of kids he had molested over the years. I do not think counseling and classes are enough for him anymore. I think he does not have enough years left to unlearn what he has learned, and I do not think he should ever be allowed back in society.
However if we are talking about someone who just has not learned any alternative due to their own upbringing, I think every child deserves to have their parents, if their parents can learn from their mistakes, and the mistakes of their own parents. |

I would go with sterilisation along with hormone treatment and therapy. If reoffense seems even a small likelihood then jail should also be imposed.
However, I think a small stock of their sperm/eggs should be kept frozen until their death incase they are proven innocent. Additionally, sterilisation should not happen until their release from prison.

Counseling, possibly jail depending on the crime, and I lean toward sterilization for people who do really horrible things to their children.

I voted other, there are too many variables to enter any one vote on this pole.
Sterilization , however , is not an option IMO.
