Ok, summer is here, finally!!!
No more having to come home, worry about the ap tests, sats, homeworks!!!! Besides my part-time job and a whole list of summer-goals, I have a lot of free time!!! I'm thinking of using some of this free time to seriously trying my hand at lucid dreaming. Lucid Dreaming, for those of you who are not aware, is a type of dream in which one has control of the dream itself, allowing him or her to manipulate the dream world for his or her own enjoyment and desires. Controlled lucid dreaming, as the name implies, is a series of methods in which one can learn to develop and use certain techniques which works best for him or her in order to dream lucidly and have total control over it. Imagine the possibilities! I've been to various sites online and did plenty of research on the topic for school research projects and personal interests during this past school year. The time and effort required (especially in the morning) is a luxury that was not availble to me during the school year. Now that my mornings and some time throughout the day is free, I can finally take a shot at it. While I was interested in the whole concept and at the same time skeptical of course. There are thousands of testimonies from all walks of life claiming that it works and they have done it. They all claim, however, that this requires serious effort, active participation, and commitment on the part of the person attemping it. I'm tempted, but I'm not sure if I want to spend that much time on it if it'll flop. If anyone had any experience with this, or know more about it, or know any reasons why I should, or know any reasons why I shoudn't attempt it, speak now or forever hold your peace. Any comments and suggestions would be helpful. Consider me the tree and you the wind trying to sway me a certain direction. Many thx.

I don't know much about lucid dreaming, so I don't have much of an opinion on it. If you're worried about wasting your free time, is there something else you'd like to do with it if you don't try lucid dreaming? I'd say it'd be better to try and fail than to spend all of your extra time watching TV or soemthing.
I can see the appeal of it, but I wouldn't want to try it myself. I get a lot out of my unconscious dreams. If you do try it, please share your experience!

Hey, congrats on the 'end of school'!
Lucid dreaming is very ineteresting; for some reason, there are times when I have to make very little effort, and other times when I cannot do it at all. The real 'fun' point is when you are in the middle of a dream, and you decide to change the outcome of the dream...... That is one of the most common features of lucid dreaming (For me) - I have actually dreamed something that I didn't like, and have 'gone in reverse' to change the end. ![]()

Dreaming is my favorite activity, hands down (just the normal kind). Let us know what you find!

Lucid dreaming is awesome, I encourage everyone to give it a try. I started lucid dreamind involuntarily, but now I do it on command quite often. If I don't, I simply remember every detail of my dream which I've heard is also in the lucid dream category. Just you wait until you start those lucid dreams, the possibilities are... endless? (up to now, they have been...). But remember, you've got a real life to lead, so don't sleep your life away!!!

You soon find that those strange dreams, in which you might be playing tennis on a court, walk through a door, and you are in a bar with friends, with a fresh change of clothes are really two dreams 'joined up'; with a little practice, you can separate them. I did have one incredible dream, once (obviously lucid) - in which I was walking over hills with a good friend of mine in 'real life'. WE saw two girls in the distance, and I saw them point to me, laughing. I looked down at myself, and found I was naked ! I quickly imagined up some clothes, and went on, embarassed. ![]()

Oh another way, or so I've heard, is to regularly analyize your surroundings and question whether its real or a dream. You'll find yourself doing it in a dream and you'll then be lucid when you realize its just a dream. So in other words, you just need to realize your dreaming in order to turn it into a lucid one (not as easy as it sounds, obviously...)

The movie 'Flatliners' comes to mind when I read the first entry in this post. Watch what you do...you never what know what you may bring back with you....or if you will make it back at all.

Go for the gusto, luv! The bottom line is that there is nothing to fear, you will wake up. The subconcious mind is a very powerful entity and once you connect with it the possibilities are endless. Perhaps you can use the tools that you find through lucid dreaming will benefit your waking state of mind! It couldn't hurt! You are familiar with it, you have studied it, now go for it! Nothing bad will happen for you are in control. You are entering this state of your own free will so you will determine what happens.
I wish you luck and await your findings, professor. Teach me something new! Don't forget, If at first you don't succeed, try, try again!Joyfully, Martha
