Marie has said on numerous occasions that she doesn't want equality; perhaps it is something to do with our age group, but I open the car door for her - as I would for any woman; she admits that when she worked as a secretary (In the bad old days when we had chunky manual typewriters - just after the stone age), she found herself trying to lift the typewriters about, and was very greatful for the help from as man.

I am most certainly not a male chauvenist - I abhor men who are that way inclined; I just enjoy being a 'gentleman'. I don't remember where it came from, but I always go by the rule "A gentleman is a man who can make a woman feel like a lady".

I think that just about encapsulates my feeling on this subject.

I am tired of the fight between women and men. Coexist. The world is full of opportunity. Your own self is the only thing that can really hold you down. If you have a inspiration to aspire...then, please, commit to your aspiration and ascend.....

I don't think it is a case of 'better' I think they are better adapted for some 'chores', as are we; men and women complement each other.

Strangely enough, men with bigger hands are supposed to be more addept than women with small hands at doing delicate work (That is something I heard years ago, I cant remember where from).

One thing I have noticed is that no woman has posted here - Zlot, your gender is 'Undisclosed' so I can't put you in any 'box'. I would actually like to hear a woman's point of view about this thread.

I think many countries are behind in this, but I think the U.S. has gone too far in the other direction. What I believe about the union of man and women, I will post later. Here is something I found describing how women in the US are allowing the egos to take over with the new found power of equality.

Marriage, the institution, serves women
According to the modern aesthetic
Religiously designed to serve children
Present thinking has become heretic
It has made of the man the enemy
His only value being his income
To the wife is deeded his property
He has no say in family outcome
She easily swaps him out for more funds
Claiming sexual abuse without basis
To him the State for child support duns
Failure to pay means he's placed in shackles
To continue forming marital pacts
A man must live in denial of facts

The population was also, oddly enough female, the two guys where the only males around. Now our two guys had become a threat to society and they spent the better part of the film trying to avoid been captured by the authorities that wants to "cure them" with an operation. Luckily, there are also lot's of civil disobedience so they get lot's of help.

It is a wounder that the communist run Poland allow the production of this film since it do include some hidden criticism of the goverment. I have witheld some spoilers.

Of course, you have your own personal views - as do all of us; but I was watching TV the other night (can't remember which - maybe Question time) wher the discussion was "Which way for the tory party?"
ie New Labour have moved to the right, stealing the Conservative 'Niche'.
They were talking about the various PM's and commenting that the Conservatives had achieved so much under Thatcher (I think now the subject might have been about the failing EU constitution).

The person talking (as I say I have no Idea who), I remember was totally unbiassed, and commented on the great sucesses by Thatcherism until her last year in power, when she somehow became too big, even for her own boots!

The consensus was, though that what she had achieved in Europe was the base of what Blair now is standing on, from a very strong position...

Ok, here's what I think. Men and women are created equal, but made different. Our differences are supposed to compliment each other and work in harmony with one another.

But our gears sometimes gets gummed up with junk, emotional junk, and misconceptions of how we think the other one should act. Or one of us switches speed or direction which cause the gear teeth to collide. And if only it was this simple. We would only need to keep our gears clear of emotional debris, and keep both gears in synch. But real life is not just two gears.

You have people around you, and maybe children, all emotional gears in contact with each other. And while not all gears touch all gears, any one gear, affects the whole group.
With this image I found an interesting description of the purpose of the gears. Here is an image that was too large to post here. But it explains how one gear prevents backlash in the clockwise direction, while the other prevents backlash in the counterclockwise direction. This is a great visual aide in helping explain the purpose of our differences, I hope. And how men and women definitely need each other.
