Ah, didn't know that. I always assumed the shock made all of the muscles contract at once to the point where the person was immobilized.

(good thing I ran this by you guys. Would have been embarrassing to find it all out by trial and error).

Yes, but it isn't always possible. Zombies have absolutely no respect for people's personal boundaries.

That would be a military grade stun baton.

Ultimately, zombies seem to be immune to pain and that is what a stun weapon is about... immobilization through pain but no significant physical damage. The more I think about it, the less I think stun weapons are going to be any good.
Unless you kludge one that delivers significant amperage.

Hmmmmm, back to the drawing board.

Heck, there are many people I'd be willing to shoot just in case they might be a zombie. Simple logic: one way to kill a zombie is to shoot it in the head. Therefore, if you shoot someone in the head and it kills them, they must have been a zombie.

That's part of why people on certain drugs are essentially "immune" from stun immobilization. Though most people also have muscle contraction while the voltage is being applied, most of the deterrence is from the longer lasting pain.

Since muscle contraction generally only happens while current is being applied... it wouldn't stop a zombie for more than a couple of seconds. The pain from the shock will not keep the zombie from getting back up and the contractions may not even take effect on a decaying body.

Agreed. But that is why having a good teammate is essential. They help enforce boundaries.

I'm reminded of why the ending of the original Night of the Living Dead was so horrible and meaningful.

Totally. The first and last poignant message of the zombie genre. I think everything meaningful about zombies boils down to that specific moment.

Indeed.
It's unfortunate that so many zombie movies leave out the social message in favor of splat-gore action. Not that I mind splat-gore action, but a move is best when it's more than just that.

The A is pronounced like it is in Father and the O like in Dough.

So essentially ... Wah-Doh
