Logging off was the proper way of dealing with it. As Robtex pointed out, a cyber bully only wants to control you. S/he can't when you are off line.

I can understand being frustrated at being misunderstood, but why get angry and offended? If the person carries on about it, just ignore them, don't let youself get dragged into an argument. You know what was in your heart and nothing they allege can change that.
