That was the plan with the Frauenkirche in Dresden, but eventually people get sick of looking at rubble.

However, that does not mean that I necessarily feel any need to be respectful, civil, patient, friendly, or otherwise personally indulgent of people who are -- frankly -- liars, hypocrites and bigots. I do not pretend to respect people who have forfeited any claim on my respect. I don't recognize any obligation to be civil to people who not only go so very far out of their way to be uncivil, but make great efforts to deprive their fellow Americans of their civil rights. For you to lecture me about the need to be civil to such intolerant morons is absurd. I don't like Islam. It wouldn't bother me if there was no mosque anywhere in the world. So what? The civil rights and religious freedom of Muslims in America does not depend on my enthusiasm. Civil rights are not just for people you like and whose ideals you feel comfortable endorsing, and anybody who doesn't get that is a threat to everything that's worthwhile about this country. I despise such people and I make no apology for it.

I don't really care what it reminds you of. Anybody who paid the slightest attention during Reagan's second term could tell he was slipping into his dotage, to put it as politely as possible. The man was not all there. At times he barely seemed aware of where he was. He fell asleep at odd times. His fantasies about his "Star Wars" program compromised his ability to do his job. Point out the inaccuracy of what I said. Did you think he was real cowboy?

It's amazing that Muslims wanting to build their mosque near the World Trade Center rubble would attract any attention. Heck, when I first heard the headlines, I thought they were talking about literally building the mosque in the warzone where people were fighting. But no, "ground zero" turns out to be the site of 9/11, and frankly, the fact that many people oppose the basic right to do what one wishes with private property astounds me.
Radical Christianists are truly taking over America. Quote:
You deserve to be laughed at. Quote:
What do you not understand about the fact that these are not radical Muslims building the mosque, that it is well within their rights to build a mosque on their own damn property, and that painting all Muslims as barbarians who stone and behead people is just plain bigoted? Quote:

![]() Moderate Muslims want to build a mosque, which means that radical Muslims are taking over our country and twisting our laws to do... something evil, apparently. Your claims are baseless and just plain bigoted. Well gee, aren't you mature.
