I've not personally researched my family history, but my grandmother has said that she knows of at least one pirate in the family. Apparently, he wrote of an expedition, then published in a book by Alexandre Olivier Exquemelin.

Mine was done fully up to 1740
the most famous were a N Ireland prime minister.
a N ireland Justice minister
and the Designer and builder of the Titanic ( great uncle)

Least famous One was transported to Australia.

I haven't personally researched it, but some relatives have, and even found my moms side of the family descends from Abraham Lincoln.
I also know most of my family comes from Ireland, Germany, and Native American.

My family tree has been taken back all the way to 1467 though it might be 1476.

It was not I who did the genealogy though I was one of the five who researched the validity of the family tree.

On one line of my mom's side, we've gone back 14 generations. That would mean I can identify my 11th great grandfather! We haven't turned up anybody famous, but we did get a pretty good laugh on one occasion. The child of one female ancestor quite a few generations back, was listed on the records as "a knight in the forest."

I've researched (with the help of others' research) my patriarchal history back to 1100 or so. It's a shame that I can't seem to get very far with my matriarchal history, since that's what's more interesting to me!
