Default In high school...

There was this thing that happened at lunch, in the school, where you could go to this religious thing. I think it was a Christain thing, but I cannot say for sure. Anyway, if you went there, you could eat Papa Johns Pizza, for $0.75 per slice, and you could have a bottle of soda or water for $0.50. So most people would get 2 slices of pizza and a soda for just $2.00. It was a really good deal.

I used to go with my friends to it, so I could eat with them, and also so I could buy my lunch for cheap, even though most other days I didn't even buy lunch...(The money I saved for my car didn't come from nowhere... It was my $2.00 per-day lunch money from most of middle school and the first two years of high school)

Anyway, they would say a prayer, and It was just like a few years ago... Shouldn't that have been illegal?? It was in the band or chorus room... Maybe since it was optional it was okay... I guess I don't really care... I wish they would have had a non-religious cheap pizza and soda thing during lunch. I would have liked that one more.

I think the fact that it wasn't school sponsored prayer is the key. If you were forced to participate by the school, it would have been different.

That's what I figured. Around Christmas they had a drawing, and I won a religious music CD... I sold it on half.com.

They had a bible study at my daughter's school a couple of years ago after school hours and this is Southern California! So I don't think it was illegal unless people were forced to go.

Cheap pizza, whether religious or not, is always pretty good.

This bugbear that prayer/religion has been banned in public school is pure propaganda. Anyone is perfectly free to pray anytime they want. The only thing restricted is religion as part of the official curriculum.
