a while after the new crew members have come on board the ship, a whistle sounds summoning everyone onto the deck.

when everyone assembled on the main deck, a black cloaked Harpy soars down out of the sky an lands on the top deck, examining the assembled crew.

"Ok everyone, welcome aboard my ship, the adeptio, which is Latin for attainment/obtaining. My name is Mike and I am your ship’s Captain. Let me give you a brief tour of the ship."





"At the front of the ship we have a raised deck, which from here onwards will be called the front deck. There are some stairs leading up to that deck, and some doors in between the stairs. Go through those doors and down the steps to get to your quarters… you basically have a big room with little wooden cubicles, you have a chest on the floor for your stuff, and a hammock hanging over the top of that chest. It’s basic, but you have your privacy, which is better than most ships.

The main deck is the biggest desk of the ship, there is a trap door in the middle and some stairs leading down into the cargo bay.

The raised deck at the back of the ship, which from here onwards will be called the top deck, is where the wheel is. There is one, beautifully carved set of stairs that leads up to the top of this deck, and next to the stair case there are two doors. The first door is a beautifully carved wooden door, which leads into the main cabin, where there are 4 rooms. The first room on the left has navigation equipment in it, the second room on the left is my quarters, the first room on the right is the Priest’s quarters, and the second door on the right is locked. The second door isn’t carved, but leads down into the Galley.

There is the main mast with the main sail in the middle of the main deck, and the secondary mast in between the stairs leading up to the front deck. Each of these has a crows nest, but obviously the main mast goes up higher.

There are 6 cannons on the main deck, 2 cannons on the front deck, and 10 cannons on the firing deck which is the below the crew’s quarters. Crew members will be assigned battle stations later."

"Now then, ship etiquette. I expect crew members to carry out my orders. I will not enforce discipline with violence, that is not my way, and likewise I expect any crew member who has a problem and wishes to confront me do it also in a non violent and non threatening way. Instead I will enforce discipline by cutting your payment, reducing your food allowance, relocating your quarters. Matters of honour between crew mates may be solved by violence, but once that matter of honour is settled it remains settled, or else I shall intervene. Matters of payment are simple, you crew my ship and what ever treasure and money we pillage gets split equally amongst the surviving crew. I do not have a first mate, and I do not intend to have one any time soon. Once you have all stowed you belongings away in your quarters we will be setting sail.

Before you new crew mates came on board, i had a full crew, though due to some unexpected trouble i have had to fill up just under half of those numbers. we currently have a crew of 46 people including you new recruits, which is not quite what i would like but it will suffice.
The 30 crew members who are not new recruits will sail the ship out while the new crew members settle in. Does anyone have any questions?"

he died a rather senseless death... my last ship's priest was not cut out for a pirate's life at all, he was an academic and a intellect, but he was no pirate. he had the belly of a land-lubber, lost his mind in the midst of combat, ran out on deck and got picked off by enemy gun fire.

that's a lesson to all of you, keep your head when under fire and you will not die senselessly.
