It has long been a suspicion of mine that the British Empire was created by people attempting to escape British cooking. Only by expanding overseas could they get away from endless meals of cold lamb and blood pudding. Is there any truth to this?

I submit as evidence the astonding fact that the only known regiment named after what they ate -- the Beefeaters Regiment -- is British. Any nation that names it's regiments after what the regiment eats is clearly in the empire business to find better food.

Maybe they were running low on sheep's innards. Or perhaps they were looking for the perfect side dish to go with sweetbread.

The Empire enabled us to export our food world wide.
You still breed Hereford cattle in the USA to prove it. In fact a majority of your sheep and Beef animals and pigs are British breeds. Not to mention numerous sorts of Chickens. If you think British food is bad you have never tasted it... Far better than quick food anyway. And most of our food is not genetically modified. or otherwise contaminated with chemicals.

Doesn't the fact you were exporting your food to America go far to explain why the colonies revolted?
