I received today an E Mail from a lady with whom I apparently was at school in the Congo. She even used some Kiswahili - which I surprised myself by understanding!!
It's the second time this has happened! About a year ago, I had an e mail from a guy who sent me a picture of the two of us, boarding a train. The only sad part about it is that I have very few personal memories - and none of people I knew. I also had a friend (from College in England) "stumble" across my name on Friends reunited; we hadn't seen or heard from each other (he had emigrated to Australia back in the 70's); it was such a pleasant surprise. ![]()

I'm sure if it wasn't for the internet I would have lost contact with some friends who live abroad. My dad has kept in contact with an Indian family he met whilst on holiday in Barbados. They live in the US and my dad emails them. He met them years ago and he invited them to come for my wedding next month. They can't make it for the wedding and my dad called them last night on the phone. First time in years he spoke to them. Now they are making arrangements to come visit my parents for Christmas. My dad sounds so happy because he has always wanted to meet them again. If it wasn't for email they would have lost contact with each other what with the distance and everything. I'm so happy for my folks!

the web site "facebook" is really good because it's a location based database, you set up your profile and put in the details of places and times you were in education, and you can either set up or join a year group for that school/college/uni.
i've gotten in contact with friends from primary school who i've not seen in about 8 years!

the net is wonderful.
i have dear friends in the Czech Republic, Nigeria, India, and Iran... we never, never, never would have even met or talked if not for the net, and various sites where we could hook up and share views. and RF is utterly amazing as well, naturally. yes!

I use myspace for that. There are people I've never met (but I have met over the net), and people from kindegarten on there.
