Why do some of you members use a user name when you are quite prepared to reveal your real first name?
When I first joined here, my user name was michelhiernaux; I was soon fed up of having to type all that in, and asked those in power if I could (Exceptionally) change my user name..........(That was in the dim and distant past somewhere between time immemorial and the doomsday book). Now I am a bit like Winnie the Pooh (Thank you so much to Tao of Pooh for re-awakening a happy side to my youth), and therefore am a bear of very little brain.....and therefore, a memory to go with the "little brain". I got used to finding out the odd member's name (I don't mean odd as in "strange"), and I could just about cope with the complexities of a ) remembering that we have a member called Feathersin Hair whose real name was Meggie..etc, but it soon became apparent that I was learning new first names, and that I was having trouble linking real names with user names. Now, being a Bear of exceeding little brain, I had a large jar of honey, thought and thought, had some more honey, and came up with an answer! -A database!!!!! I therefore now have a database with user names, and the correesponding first name (so that I wouldn't sound unfriendly when it came to PM's)..........now I need an external hard drive for the database...........*mutters insanely* Now, if any of you want to PM me your real name, that would help!!!

Because user names are fun and lend an air of mystery to our bland existence.
My first name USED to be in my signature, but I deleted that for various reasons. But still, my name is Pete Murray.

Having a username also helps a person get a better feel for your personality. How much more does the name "MaddLlama" tell you about me, compared with "Kristin"?

User names are fun and allow for us to see more of the users personality or interests readily. FFH (which stands for Far From Home) is the name of a Christian contemporary group who sings one of my favorite songs called "One of These Days" which talks about longing to leave this earth when Christ comes... |

My username is my name (as I'm sure you're aware), just with the addition of the title of the saint for whom I'm named. I can't use just James anywhere as it's so ridiculously common its always already gone, so I gave up trying long ago.
James

My username is my name.......to those in the wrestling world, and the fans of the few promotions I wrestled for.
