From my son (He went out with his mother to buy a few 'nice bits for our New Year dinner tonight) "Hi, sorry, we'll be awhile yet." (they went to a local supermarket)"The supermarket is full of folk, and no cars are allowed out of the car park...we may be an hour or so; it seems like the police were called to deal with a man who tried to use a hammer (for which he hadn't paid) on another customer".

We had to call the cops last night at my store. We had to refuse an alcohol sale to someone because their ID was expired. They refused to leave until the cops came and walked them out. It was not a pretty scene.
Ordinarily, it wouldn't be so bad but she and her boyfriend were the last customers. So I was stuck in the store for 20 minutes after we closed. The worst scene I've ever seen was a customer who pulled a knife out and threatened one of my cashiers. The guy was buying rubbing alcohol and lamp oil (I think he was going to drink both). Luckily, the armored car attendants happened to be there when the incident started. They just sort of paced around him with their hands at their sides (ready to pull their guns if needed). All while this was happening an old lady took a fall outside the store. It was one of the most chaotic moments I've ever dealt with in retail.
