Every city has it's main houses of worship, the one every resident of every faith knows the name of and has probably visited.
In Sarajevo, that's the Katedrala Srce Isusove for Catholics and the Gazi Husrev-begova Dzamija for Muslims. But most people don't know the secondary houses of worship - they're not little, anonymous neighborhood Churches and Mosques - they are centrally located - but they're simply not as grand or as famous as their larger, more renowned companions. So now we're pitting Christians and Muslims, Austro-Hungarian Architecture versus Ottoman architecture, Church versus Mosque - hahaha. Of two of Sarajevo's secondary religious buildings, which do you prefer? The Catholic Church on Obala Kulina Bana - the name escapes me right now. St. Jame's or St. Paul's or something. ![]() Or the Carsija Mosque. I forget its real name as well, Hazihasanovic or some such thing, but it's just called the Carsija Mosque because it's located in the Carsija. ![]() Which'll it be? ![]()

I think the mosque has a more interesting architecture.

I don't know which I like. The Church is in a really nice location. If you can picture Sarajevo's four main downtown highways shaped like an X, the church is right in the middle of that X. You see it 3 or 4 times a day just going about your life.
Carsija mosque has very nice gardens and it's a very pretty location, of course, but that doesn't really count in terms of its architecture. I don't like that it hasn't been fully restored yet. You can still see the black tarp covering the bombing holes in it, etc. But the Church was just recently restored. It has this weird algae thing in the back, it was almost green on its walls. And the front was just weary and old, lots of rust runs down the steeples from the crosses, etc. But it's spotless now, really nice. I'll vote church! LOL

It's a nice picture, though. You have Buregdzinica Bosna (Fast Food Bosnia) on the right, nice restaurant but very North American-style cuisine. It's just not prepared the proper way.
Then on the right is Bosanske Pite kod Saca (Bosnian Pita like only Saca makes it). I've never had anything from there but they have the coolest Coca Cola signs in the world. Like... classy Coca Cola signs, it's really weird. LOL It makes it look like it's a wine or something.

One more - it's St. Joseph's, by the way.
