The 0.9999... = 1 thread reminded me of this:
a = b a^2 = ab a^2 + a^2 = a^2 + ab 2a^2 = a^2 + ab 2a^2 - 2ab = a^2 + ab - 2ab 2a^2 - 2ab = a^2 - ab 2(a^2 - ab) = 1(a^2 - ab) Therefore: 2 = 1 First to spot the problem get's frubals and points ![]()

If a = b then a^2 - ab = 0
Therefore the last line means 2 * 0 = 1 * 0. To get to 2 = 1, we divided by a^2 - ab. You can't divide by 0. But Becky's answer is true too ![]() |

hehehe, all this reminds me of the favoured Black Adder episode.
Black Adder: "If I have two beans and then I add two more beans, what does that make?" Baldrick: "umm... a very small casserole?"
