Eh, just a math trick with addition =)

It would be better if you could predict the final answer but let us pick all the numbers ;-)

735 + 999 + 999 = 2733

You are just lucky all 3 of us didn't pick 999 ;-) You would have had to pick 3 numbers by yourself

Sure it was. By the time Ryan picked the next to last number, I knew what you would pick for the last number. So I suppose you could say I "saw into the future" too.

I tried it out on my son, who is really quick with Numbers; you are given the first number (127) add a two before, and deduct 2 (answer = 2125); then you (and I, by a quick working out, add 1998 - 2 x 999 [the 999 being the sum of your and my number, total 1998). I thought when you chose 999 it would give it away; all I could do was to add 0.

Try this one (genuine, no trickery)..a test in sheer logic.

Imagine a straight railway line that carries onto infinity, surrounded by tinder dry grass. You are the engine driver, and going at full pelt (which is 70 m.p.h). There is a wind (going in the same direction as the train, at 90 m.ph.

The problem is, that wind is fanning a bush fire. You know that the fire is going to catch you up; it is not far behind the train (and obviously going to catch up). No trickery (no jumping out of the train, running away etc........) . The Engine driver knows how to save the train, and all the passengers..... How does he do it ?

Genuine? No trickery? hmmmm

First...90mph winds are hurricane force and are probably associated with a storm system and the possibilty of the ground being so dry is extremely remote. Next, a railway line cannot carry on into infinity unless it is going out into space in which nothing would live anyway...or it made a circle by going under the oceans, thereby solving the fire problem.

I know, Im being a smartass, but I just couldn't help myself.
